Family Owned and Operated IUP Student Rentals

Thank you for taking the time to consider Strong’s Student Rentals. My name is Ed Strong. My wife Mary and I own and operate Strong’s Student Rentals. We are a family owned business who have been serving the housing needs of IUP students since 1994. We are proud IUP alumni.

We offer a wide variety of quality IUP student rentals with some of the most desirable locations in and around the IUP campus. area We have both houses and apartments for groups ranging in size from 2-5 persons. We pride ourselves on our ability to accommodate students with quality, affordable housing during their experience at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. We understand that students are busy and often dealing with a lot of stress and important decisions. Our goal is to make your off campus living experience comfortable and worry free. We strive to treat all of our residents with the respect and courtesy they deserve.

As a small, family run business, we are able to get to know our tenants on a personal level. We care about them. They are not just another bed to fill. Mary and I are always here for them. Whether it is a maintenance issue or a question about events in the local community, you can count on us to lend a helping hand. We want you to think of us as more than just a rental property business. We are a neighbor and a resource you can count on.

Ed graduated from IUP with a B.S. in Anthropology. He was their Valedictorian.
Mary has a B.S. in Elem. Ed. from IUP & an M.A. in Dance Ed. from OSU. She graduated Summa cum laude.
In the past, Mary operated her dance studio for 23 years & served as an IUP adjunct dance faculty member when needed.

More than 2,000 IUP students served

Ed & Mary were high school sweethearts (from different high schools).
Ed’s favorite hobby is classic cars, especially British cars. He also loves History.
Mary loves to cook. She enjoys cooking with fresh herbs and growing flowers.

Quality housing just blocks from campus

Ed and Mary have two children who each graduated as Valedictorians of their high school classes.
Ed and Mary have a daughter in college and a son who graduated with his undergraduate degree in 2018.
Ed and Mary are blessed to have their parents and most family members local.

Be treated like family.

Just as our rental business has grown through the years, so has our family. As newlyweds, Mary and I actually lived in our first rental property, 1077 Church St., for a few months. Our 435 and 431 Maple St. houses were acquired just about the time our son was born. A few years later, we had our second child, a beautiful baby girl and not long after, we purchased 931 Garman Ave. and 930 Wayne.

As our children grew, so did our number of student rental properties. Our children have spent a lot of summer days painting, cleaning and moving furniture, among other things. We truly are a family business. How quickly time passes. Our children have both graduated from college and are now pursuing post graduate degrees.

Having children in college provided Mary and I with a personal understanding of what it is like to be the parent of a young adult living in their first college apartment to their first post graduate apartment. We understand the concerns that parents often share with us. We have been there ourselves. We strive to provide a safe, friendly environment for everyone.
